Reverend Owens was a mentor for many years at WT Moore and recently passed away. In his memory, a mentor table has been designated with an inscribed plaque and media center books have been ordered with nameplates recognizing his contribution to the students of WT Moore. Included in the photo are Reverend Owens’ wife, son, daughter and fellow mentors from Westminister Oaks.
W.T. Moore recently celebrated the October Book Club Day by dressing as their favorite book character. Book Club Days are held the last Friday of each month with students encouraged all month long to read a variety of genres. On Book Club Days, students are awarded and wear their reading medallions for completing a book club. Pins are also presented to those who read additional book clubs.
The Book Character Dress Up day was a GREAT way to build enthusiasm and interest in reading. There were a lot of “Wimpy Kids”, “Super Heroes”, “Captain Underpants” and a front office full of Raggedy Anns to celebrate reading success at W.T. Moore!
